GREEN SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS
RARE REALITIES SUCH AS PAXOS ISLAND WHERE NATURAL BEAUTIES AND LOCAL TRADITIONS ARE STILL CONSERVED MUST BE PROTECTED SUCH A PRECIOUS TREASURE
Tourism accounts for 8% of carbon emissions worldwide. While a large portion of that percentage is due to air travel, hotels also account for some of it, too. Staying at a sustainable accommodation is about more than reducing your carbon footprint. It’s a meaningful way to give back to the planet during your travels — and local communities — and committing to a great cause.
As guests and partners are increasingly concerned about social and environmental issues, our projects were designed to provide guests an eco journey alternative where to collaborate together for the safeguards of the Paxos environment
Nereidi Complex was built on an ancient olive tree field which were introduced by the Venetians in the sixteenth century. Olive trees represent the looking from above the island of Paxos that is totally covered by an estimation of 300,000 trees. To respect the environment and the whole island landscape, the houses were built around the trees without moving or deturpate any exemplar. We are glad to report that locals and turists are always surprised to know that in the area 9 units were build since they are not visible from the street and most importantly for the sea. This confirm us that we proceed in the total respect to this magic land that host us.
The entire complex was built with local stones and according to the local guidelines to respect the local landscape and culture. Inside, Villas are characterized by organic and recycled wood furnitures that are unfinished or unfinished or treated with finishes that do not off-gas or are low VOC, contributing to its safety in everyday use. This strongly contributes the an improvement of the air quality and our personal health, since it is demonstrated that indoor air quality is often 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor air quality due to the choice of furnitures that are not good for the environment.
DRINKING WATER DISPENSERS
One of our first mission is to preserve the local marine environment with a particular attention to the conservation of the above sea level habitat. It is a commonly known fact that plastic waste is one of the greatest problems we face worldwide and this is why at The Eco Nereidi Villa Complex we aim to find sustainable alternatives to this impacting material. We are glad to introduce for the 2020 a new drinking water dispensable system based on provided glass bottles that can be refilled on request in our reception. We estimate this stops the use of up to 50 disposable plastic bottles per day
Our accommodations are equipped by organic mattresses, 100% cotton sheets and towels that are changed every 3 days or upon guests request to responsibly save energy and water. A special effort is also done to collect and reuse rain water.
No toxic cleaning agents and laundry detergent are used for housekeeping. The kitchen is furnished with glass and ceramic plates and silicone reusable food covers and we preferred refillable soap dispensers instead of little individual products to reduce plastic waste. Recycling bins and a Complex recycling lobby is available and constantly managed by our team to ensure a correct waste disposal.
